Monday's Late Night Lessons Learned for Sept. 28, 2009:
Well, I'm still working like a dog trying to pay off last minute debts, get gas money, and save up for the trip back east. This last week has been a lesson in pain management, my back is slowly learning that not matter how loud it screams at me, I'm still going to go work.
The mind can, when need be, be a better form of pain control then pills. I've always had a high pain tolerance with sudden, or pro-longed pain, but never for that throbbing kind of pain like the kind you get from a back ache, headache, or even a paper cut. I can do my own stitches, reset broken bones in my own hand, but a headache will knock the wind out of me. My legs have been screwed up for a number of years now, that kind of pro-long pain I can learn, and have learned to live with, because maybe it is always there I just tune it out, perhaps this is what is happening with my back, although it is not so much a matter of tuning out the pain, but I think my back is actually adjusting to the new condition of physical labor.
So even thou all this is happening at a time when I need all my energy to pack, I haven't packed a single thing this week, maybe next week I'll do better.
