Budget and Bills

I sit here today in a frump, (Is that even a word?), thinking about what next I have to do to get going on the things that need to get done. I'm swamped yet again, this time with bills. The biggest disadvantage of living in the city is it's limitations on what you can do within your own property. And I can see that the biggest disadvantage to living in the country is the travel time required to gather junk at stores in the city.

When I was a kid, we had black and white TVs that managed to pull in three channels via a thing stuck on the side of the house called an antenna. My grandmother had the more advanced version of this thing on the side of the house, it had a wired remote control so she could turn it from side to side to get half a channel more.

Preppers Network Chat Guide

We have a Chat Room (I am still working on this, I'll let you know when it's done here. - Wolfe) These are online help pages for The Prepper's Network Chat Room. The Prepper's Network chat room is hosted by Rizon, if you are not familiar with IRC, and just want to chat with like minded people into preparedness, you can just use our web interface by clicking here (http://qchat.rizon.net/?nick=bloghelp....&channels=#preppers&prompt=0), your nick will be bloghelp followed by some random numbers, to let the regulars know you came from this page. Otherwise you can use an IRC chat client like IceChat (http://www.icechat.net/), which these help pages are about, and join the server Rizon (irc.rizon.net:6667 channel #preppers). Additional Note: For Linux users please use Xchat (http://www.xchat.org/), I will be making a help page for you in the near future. I have divided this help guide into four sections. The first section deals with commands you can send the server, such as changing your nick. The second section deals with a program you can use to join the channel instead of using the web chat interface. The third and fourth section I hope will help...

OK, so I know it's not only been awhile since I did any real updates, and it's also been awhile since I have updated you all on what is happening on our plan to get out of here and onto the farm. So … In order to start off the year on a good foot, I redid my blog template, and plan to make a renewed effort to post more often. But as to what has happened recently let me give you a bit of a run down.

OK, I know I was to disappear till the Jan. 4th. But I need to make a plea to all you readers out there. There are a lot of Preppers out there trying their best to help you out by posting what they know, and how things are going. I know you all can't donate to each of these sites, but it would be a BIG encouragement to leave a comment on them, let them know that you do in fact read their blogs, main sites, and what not.So, go right now to APN (http://www.americanpreppersnetwork.com/), CPN (http://www.canadianpreppersnetwork.com/), My Random Page (randomframed) or any site listed at Survival Times (http://survivaltimes.info/) and let them know you care!Wolfe PS: leaving a comment on this post doesn't count.

Christmas '04

'Twas the night after Christmas, and all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, except for Wolfe's Mouse; The stockings were empty and tossed the without care, In hopes that Nicoli would lay in his lair; The children were nestled all snug in their beds,While visions of Xbox danced in their heads,And InnerRainbow in her 'nighie, and I in my buff, Had just settled down, Christmas had been tough,When out on the yard there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the futon to see what was the matter. Away to the back door I flew like the Flash, Tore open the closet and grabbed something to bash. The moonlight on the grass of new-fallen rain Gave the illusion of spring and I was not sane. When, what to my bloodshot eyes should appear, But a huge 'coon, and three of her dears, With a little golf driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be that prick. More rapid than eagles my curses they came, And I shouted, and shouted, and called them some names; "Oh, Dammit! and, Dang! you Prick", I was bitchen. "Oh Curses! your Stupid! Get away from the kitchen!" "To...

We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights." ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth.
Panic in the Streets

How about a full movie for your viewing pleasure. I don't really feel like writing much today, instead let's watch a movie. (It's Public Domain, no worries) Panic in the Streets"After brawling over a card game in the wharf area of New Orleans, a man named Kochak, suffering visibly from a flu-like illness, is killed by gangster Blackie and his two flunkies, Kochak's cousin Poldi and a man named Fitch. They leave the body on the docks, and later when the dead man, who carries no identification, is brought to the morgue, the coroner grows suspicious about the bacteria present in his blood and calls his superior, Dr. Clinton Reed, a uniformed doctor working for the U.S. Public Health Service. Reed is enjoying a rare day off with his wife Nancy and their son Tommy, but decides to inspect the body. After careful examination, he determines that Kochak had "pneumonic plague (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonic_plague)," the pulmonary version of bubonic plague. Reed springs into action, insisting that everyone who came into contact with the body be inoculated. He also orders that the dead man's identity be determined, as well as his comings and goings during the previous few days. Reed meets with people...

I use dryer lint a lot on walkabouts because it is easy to use to start your camp fire. However, it is not replacable as a source of tinder when in the back woods. Any form of cloth, moss, birch bark, and similiar materials can be used to make char cloth. This video is a good example of how to do it yourself.r7uLVGrAt1MWolfe

How to make Ghillie Suit

How to make Ghillie Suit"A ghillie suit, or yowie suit, is a type of camouflage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camouflage) clothing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clothing) designed to resemble heavy foliage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foliage). Typically, it is a net or cloth garment covered in loose strips of cloth or twine, sometimes even made to look like leaves and twigs. Snipers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sniper) and hunters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunting) may wear a ghillie suit to blend into their surroundings when they feel it is important for them to camouflage and hide themselves from enemies or their targets. The suit gives the wearer's outline a three-dimensional breakup, rather than a linear one. When manufactured correctly, the suit will move in the wind in the same way as surrounding foliage. Ghillie suits have been used in military simulation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_simulation) and in milsim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milsim)-themed paintball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paintball) and airsoft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft) games." - Wikipedia s2t81mCyRWIThere are actually several Youtube videos on how to make a suit. Here is a link (http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-a-ghillie-suit-238102/)to a search about that subject. Wolfe

November Remembers

My wife, and I, are members of the Legion (http://www.legion.ca/Home/SiteHome_e.cfm). I won't get into the details as to why, but I do have something to say about this month in general. During the first week of this month an image of the Guy Fawkes mask appears within my logo, the reason for this is due to November 5th tradition, which in the most simplest terms means that 'the government should fear the people, not the other way around'. There is even a more important date which should be remembered, that being today (http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=history/other/remember). And n honor of that I give you this video.Gve8S7ZSH60 Wolfe

Most recent at teh time of this posting the issue centers out of the Ukraine, Romania, and nearby countries. But the CDC appears to be keeping an eye out here at home for the same issues. Borders have been closed, and the issue grows. This is not the same Swine Flu that has been going around for the last year folks, this is new. Exactly what I was worried about.UPDATE (12:06 am (PST) Nov. 3rd 2009) We have received word directly from friends in the Ukraine that they think this is directly related to the coming vote. The WHO team is expected to arrive sometime today to verify available information ans test, it can currently take up to two weeks for the test results to confirm this is a mutated version of the H1N1 virus. School are closeds, some borders are closed, all public meeting are canceled. Within the Ukraine itself no news media is reporting "hemorrhagic pneumonia", although the people we talked to on the phone tonight did tell us...

Sunday's Must See: V!

OK, here it is, the prelude to the new revamped television series from the 80's V! Yes, the aliens have returned, the story has been altered, the plot line the same. V was one of my fav's in the 80's and I really hated that they cancelled the show back then, like they tend to do with all the greats like Sarah Conner (Season three to be direct DVD movie?) and Jericho. But they brought this one back, it starts Nov. 3rd. So stay tuned! - Wolfe

I have often referred to the coming collapse, although now I would call it current collapse, of our society and way of life as the next fall of Rome. However, I never really spelled it out as well this post from Catman (http://catmanslitterbox.blogspot.com/2009/10/new-dark-age.html), this Sunday's must read.Wolfe

Thanks to Kymber of the Ontario Preppers Network for this post on CPN (http://www.canadianpreppersnetwork.com/2009/10/letter-to-familyfriends-who-might-land.html), I would like to give due notice to all those who have shown interest in moving onto our farm after we move to Ontario. I would like to give due notice about a few things you should be made aware of, in addition, I have posted this on my blog so that there is no excuse for not knowing them in advance. My wife and I have changed since we live in Ontario, in fact we have changed a lot in the recent year or so, our opinions, politics, and beliefs are not the same that most people that know us in real life would associate with us. For example, we are not members of the Green Party any longer, nor do we support them in anyway. We could be called for lack of better terms, Preppers, Libertarian, Self-Reliant, Self-Efficient, or at the very least try to be. We do not support the socialist mind set that has invaded the culture of North America, we believe in Sovereignty, not Solidarity. Liberty is best protected by non-interference. I could go on, but this...

Sunday Night's Gun Control

Encase you missed it, I am pro-gun. I do honestly believe that stricter gun control removes self-defense means from citizens, and does nothing to remove them from criminals. I have heard all kinds of arguments, but a recent new regular to our chat room on the prepper's network has a new blog he has just started, and it is up to a fanstastic start with this bit about gun control (http://kronic.blog.com/2009/10/05/40-reasons-to-ban-guns/) written by a state trooper friend of his.- Wolfe

I was just over at James Rawles site checking out his list of fiction (http://www.survivalblog.com/2009/10/poll_results_survivalblog_read.html) when I noticed an advertisement from Ready Made Resources about a water filter. First let me say that Ready Made has a good rep, and second this is the water filter I have been looking for. 0.015 microns (http://www.readymaderesources.com/cart/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=375)! Just thought I'd pass this on. (The link is taken directly from survivalblog.com so if you buy one please state it is because of their ad on survivalblog.com not wolfeblog.net although a mention would be nice.)
H1N1 Vaccine Risks

What people are forgetting is that there are actually two types of H1N1 viruses on record. My own in-laws are currently suffering from the 'novel' version of these viruses (current) as I write this, and we are heading straight for them. As we get ready to cross Canada in the next 25 days we will be meeting and coming into contact with with strangers from Vancouver, British Columbia to Toronto, Ontario. It is during this time that the flu season will be at it's highest point in the year, and this year may prove to be the most proficient flu season to date. The Prepper's Network has a chat room (link in my menu on the right) which is visited by many of us preppers/survivalists including a friend of mine (MapDude in the chat) who runs an online map of the H1N1 virus (http://outbreaks.globalincidentmap.com/home.php), as well as several other constantly updated data maps (some of which are in my data menu on the left), all of there are constantly updated by him while he watches 12 monitors of incoming feeds and news casts. Trust me when I say that the Prepper's Network (http://www.worldwidepreppersnetwork.com/)...

Mondays Lesson Learned Oct 5th 2009

#wolfebugsout How to move: Buy 10,000 Garbage Bags Toss stuff out. Buy bus ticket. OK, as tempting as it is to just throw stuff out and buy a bus ticket, it isn't that easy. To begin with you need to have a reason to move. For us the primary reason is to buy a farm, deal with a lawyer, and get out of the city. Price of land dictated that we are moving to Ontario, limits on Legal Aid for a suite we are involved in did also, and mountains combined with health killed any idea of staying in British Columbia.

Monday's Late Night Lessons Learned for Sept. 28, 2009

Monday's Late Night Lessons Learned for Sept. 28, 2009: Well, I'm still working like a dog trying to pay off last minute debts, get gas money, and save up for the trip back east. This last week has been a lesson in pain management, my back is slowly learning that not matter how loud it screams at me, I'm still going to go work. The mind can, when need be, be a better form of pain control then pills. I've always had a high pain tolerance with sudden, or pro-longed pain, but never for that throbbing kind of pain like the kind you get from a back ache, headache, or even a paper cut. I can do my own stitches, reset broken bones in my own hand, but a headache will knock the wind out of me. My legs have been screwed up for a number of years now, that kind of pro-long pain I can learn, and have learned to live with, because maybe it is always there I just tune it out, perhaps this is what is happening with my back, although it is not so much a matter of tuning out the...

Returning the Favor

So this last week I received the most unique hits in a single day ever. The primary reason for this was a short mention to one of my Saturday Political Comic posts that "A View from Porch (http://booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com/)" noticed. Which was followed up by Say Uncle (http://www.saysuncle.com/), and Micheal Bane (http://michaelbane.blogspot.com/).So for this week's Sunday Must Reads, I return the favor. Wolfe

Another Swine Flu

Yeah, so I was bored while I was going to the next job site, and posted to twitter "The most viral thing about #swineflu is it's marketing" and got several retweets as a result, nice.So because I've been working my butt off trying to raise enough money to move to Ontario by the end of next month I haven't had time to update this blog much, but with swine flu still on my mind I did find this for Saturday...
Monday's Lessons Learned September 21, 2009

Monday's Lessons Learned September 21, 2009 Say hello to the first day of fall, today is the Autumn Equinox, hence the Mother of Earth card in the logo area. This winter is going to prove to be unpredictable for myself and my family, with only 40 days to go till Halloween, the night we plan to leave British Columbia, we are still seeing small progress to getting out of here. The garage sale is off, I just don't have the time, or desire to hold one. Everything is either going or getting out of the house now. One of the first things to go were the box springs for the beds, and the carpet in the attic. Lots of useless furniture that is not going is also heading out the door. That has been clearing up a lot of space. When we were on the road as caravaners, we had what was known as steamer trunks (http://www.eagletrunks.com/steamertrunkdetails/EA001257Details.html). They were great because not only was everything always packed, they doubled their functions as furniture. Although I have often dreamed of being such a good carpenter to make such useful items, I will likely not get around to...

Something for Long Term Prep Lists

So what are you going to do for your Sunday Must Reads WSHTF? Do you have a stock of books that you can use for homeschooling? Is there books in your preps that teach traditional values, moral lessons, and other such things (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Books) in away to entertain and educate? I suggest you go to your local used bookstore and stock up on some major classical reads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_Classics). If you really need to print most these your self you can find almost all of them at Project Gutenberg. (http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page)Remember, reading is important!Wolfe

A really late Monday's Lessons Learned Sept. 14th 2009

I sit here tired as a dog, every muscle in my body hurts even those little ones in my fingers. Well maybe it isn't that bad, but I am feeling the effects of not working out every set of body muscles evenly for the last few years. How did this happen? In every majority city of the world there is a an intersection called commonly “Cash Corner”. It is used by illegal immigrants looking for work, or other that want to stay under the radar from big brother. The reason this continues, and has for so many years (there were cash corners in the the late 60's that my own uncle worked at), is because legally it is called sub-contracting. There is how ever a very large underground economy that uses this legal loop hole to avoid taxes. But it is not limited to just one corner of a major city, Dianne Francis once work a very biased book called the “underground economy in Canada” which although IMHO was very lack in it's fact finding, very right in assuming that lots of companies hire staff 'under the table'. It is in this...

The Ends (Comic)

This is a fun and interesting read, very imagined end of the world from a different angle. You should check it out here (http://www.drunkduck.com/The_Ends/). BTW in this one case I came across this webcomic as a result of the author advertising on my blog here, so I'm not sure if this plug counts as being without rewards to myself honestly. But I do love it.
